Colonel Lousma is one of the 19 astronauts selected by NASA in april 1966. He served as a member of the astronaut support crews for the Apollo 9, 10, and 13 missions. He was the pilot for Skylab-3 (july 28 to september 25, 1973) and was spacecraft commander on STS-3 (march 22-30, 1982), logging a total of over 1,619 hours in space. Dr Sally Ride was born on May 26, 1951 in Los Angeles. Dr Ride has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and also a Ph.D in physics. On june 18,1983 she became the first American woman to orbit Earth when she flew aboard Space Shuttle Challenger. Her second flight was also aboard Challenger in 1984. She left the astronaut corps in 1987 to join the faculty of Stanford University.

Dr Sally Ride est née le 26 mai 1951 à Los Angeles. Dr Ride possède un bachalauréat artistique, englais et physique ainsi qu'un doctorat en physique. Le 18 juin 1983, elle est devenue la première femme américaine à orbiter la terre à bord de la Navette spatiale Challenger. Son second vol eu lieu également à bord de Challenger en 1984. Elle a qitté le corps des astronautes en 1987 et rejoint la faculté de l'Université de Standford.
